The Vinton County Local School District located in rural Southeastern Ohio, is the only school district in the County of Vinton which covers 414 square miles. The District is comprised of five elementary schools, one junior high school, and one new high school opened in August of 2000. The district employs 202 certificated personnel and 137 classified personnel.

According to the December, 2002 EMIS data, 2,641 students attend VCLSD in preschool through grade 12. The District has been designated as "Continuous Improvement". Preschool programs and all-day every-day kindergarten are offered at each elementary site. AP Calculus is offered at the high school together with an ever-changing, challenging curriculum that meets the academic content standards.
